Download SF4 DWT Template
Dynamic Web Templates are a great method for managing the items that appear on large numbers of pages on a website, such as the layout and menus. This system is an integral part of Dreamweaver and FrontPage (although we have no working knowledge of the latter).
Website designers who are familiar with Dreamweaver but want to create a webshop can use our SF4-DWT template to add all the e-commerce categories and products, delivery and tax data and then generate the site in Shopfitter 4.
The resulting pages can then be designed and styled throughout using the templates functionality built into Dreamweaver.
To use this all you need to do is download the SF4 DWT Template by clicking the link (or paste the following url into your browser: http://www.shopfitter.com/themes/sf4-dwt-template.zip) then follow the intructions below to set up the site.
Requirements
- Shopfitter 4 installed on target computer
- Dreamweaver or FrontPage (with DWT template capabilities)
Installation
- Download the zip file from www.shopfitter.com/themes/sf4-dwt-template.zip
- Unzip the archive and save the folder contained to C:\Program Files\Shopfitter\Shopfitter 4\themes
Configuration
- Create your shop in Shopfitter 4 and add all your products and categories
- Add an info page entitled "SF4-DWT-Template"
- Open the "Theme" tab and select the DWT Template theme then publish the site
- In Windows Explorer open C:\Program Files\Shopfitter\Shopfitter 4\Shops\"Your Shop"
and find the "web" folder
- You can work directly with this or copy to another location, your usual place for
saving web projects
- Open the "web" folder and open the file "SF4-DWT-Template.htm" in Notepad or
other editor (not Dreamweaver or FrontPage)
- Delete "<!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/SF4-DWT-Template.dwt"
codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->" on line 2 and "<!-- InstanceEnd -->" on line 131
- Next carry out a find and replace (usually accessed from the 'Edit' menu
- Use Find and Replace to find 'Instance' and replace with 'Template'
- The following changes should have been made (these can be done manually by editing the code):
- Line 4 change "<!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->" to "<!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->"
- Line 6 change "<!-- InstanceEndEditable -->" to "<!-- TemplateEndEditable -->"
- Line 7 change "<!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="sf4-head" -->" to "<!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="sf4-head" -->"
- Line 14 change "<!-- InstanceEndEditable -->" to "<!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
- Line 106 change "<!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="EditRegion1" -->" to "<!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="EditRegion1 -->"
- Line 113 change "<!-- InstanceEndEditable -->" to "<!-- TemplateEndEditable -->"
- Save the changes
- Now define your site in Dreamweaver (or FrontPage) using the "web" folder as the
root directory
- Open the SF4-DWT-Template.htm file in Dreamweaver
- Select "Save as Template" from the 'File' menu and then
- Two pop ups will appear, click "Save" on the first and then "Yes" on the
'Update Links' pop up
Dreamweaver will create a Templates folder and a new DWT template called "SF4-DWT-Template.dwt" will
be available for editing the site
When you make the first save after altering the template an error message may occur for a file called "categorylist.htm", this is not part of the web shop so can just be OK'd - you can
delete this file so that the error doesn't recur.
