Customer Friendly

The websites we build convert browsers into buyers successfully because we strive to make all sites easy to navigate with clear 'calls to action'. What that means is that your prospective customers know what to do without having to go through lots of web pages - with Shopfitter sites your prospective customers are never more than one click away from being able to buy your items. The principle is that we make the online shopping experience as close to walking around a real world shop as possible.

Code and technology

Why is well formed code important? The simple answer is that it means you get better search engine ranking! The other benefits are that your site is legal, unlike the majority of your competitors' websites. Disabilities Discrimination Legislation states that all websites should be readable by browsers that cater for the visually impaired. Shopfitter builds websites in XHTML and CSS following the standards set by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). As far as we know no one has been prosecuted for having a website that doesn't comply, however, as 10% of the population claims a visual disability it's too big a market share to ignore. The reasons for ensuring your site is built with well formed code are both commercially and legally compelling.

Search Engine Friendly

We've studied internet user behaviour in great detail, particularly how people interact with search engines with regard to buying online. Our analysis is that people search for products rather than for websites, as a result we create sites that cater for this behaviour. In addition, Shopfitter ecommerce websites make it very easy for search engine robots (sometimes referred to as spiders) to index web page content - crucial to achieving high ranking for your search terms. Add that to the fact that through our use of Cascading Stylesheets (CSS - and apologies for getting techy) we've separated the important stuff, the text content, from the code that tells Internet Explorer or Firefox how to display the pages. This means that your website pages will be very rich in content compared with code. Most websites are code heavy (especially in ecommerce), thereby placing barriers in the way of efficient content indexing by the search engines, this technique also provides higher search rankings.

Sitemaps and Search Engine Submissions

As part of our service we build Google XML sitemaps, Yahoo text sitemaps and HTML sitemaps which are all registered with and submitted to the various search systems. Sitemaps are the SEs preferred method of managing the submission of website addresses because they list every page to be indexed as well as providing the date of the last time the page was updated. This is included in the price we agree because it's very important to us that your website is commercially successful - we know there's no point in building a site that can't be found.

Prices

Shopfitter's software charging structure is based on Pay As You Go, however, we create very effective websites built to the highest standards technically and functionally. As such, you may find lower prices than ours but in the long (or even short) term these will prove to earn you less than a site built by Shopfitter making us much more cost effective.

Prices start from £799 or US$1599 for non ecommerce sites and £449 or US$899 for ecommerce websites. Typically, an e-commerce site will cost around £2200 ($3600 to $4400) for a good, fully featured site with lots of items available.

All prices are subject to VAT at 17.5% for customers in the UK and EU.
